Full of life and knowledge, Tammy infuses creativity into her client-centered approach to treating pain, numbness/tingling, fatigue, and other common challenges.

Tammy Shaw-Sykes is the first, and currently the only, Master Myoskeletal Therapist in Minnesota.

She is one of only 40 individuals in the world to attain a Master Certification in 2019. Massage therapists, physical therapists, and chiropractors seek this advanced education to serve a growing population of clients who are looking for body work that goes beyond the typical relaxation, stress-relieving benefits of massage.

In addition to this advanced certification, Tammy is also a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Myoskeletal Therapist, Certified Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor. Her advanced education in Orthopedic Massage and Orthopedic Exercise complements the work that is done on the massage table by equipping clients with exercises and movements that can support progress toward their goals.

Her massage practice, including Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy, has allowed her to work with some of the most difficult disorders and diseases including Fibromyalgia, Primary Lateral Sclorosis(PLS), traumatic brain injury, Anklosing Spondyolitis, scoliosis, cancer patients, nerve pathologies, arthritis, muscle imbalances, Type II Diabetes, degenerative disc disease, and many other conditions.

Tammy has an unending passion for helping others shift from a place of pain or stress and into functional movement so that they can live their fullest lives. She continues to stay on top of the latest research and developments in all areas related to structural therapies, nutrition, pain management, and performance related issues. Her belief is that fitness comes from within beginning with health-focused eating habits, attitudes, and desire to stay active.

Tammy’s advanced training is put into practice on the table, in the studio, and as she teaches yoga to Special Needs Adults and Senior Fitness Classes out in the community each week.

Passion for Helping People Through Massage
Tammy’s work in Information Technologies and data entry for 20+ years gives her an understanding of deadlines and high stress in her career. Self-care and ergonomics were not well known or encouraged. The result of that many issues including chronic back pain, carpal tunnel symptoms, numbness in hands, constant pain in one hand, tendonitis and lack of sleep developed over time. Tammy ultimately received a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia which added to existing arthritis in both knees due to a car accident.

As a “Recovering Couch Potato” Tammy brings her quest for knowledge and understanding to her clients, bringing hope, results, and safer functional movements. She supports clients who run, walk, swim, and bicycle and those who play soccer, wallyball, tennis, golf, and more. Some clients go to the gym, but others choose to work with her for personal training sessions that support low impact movements like dance and yoga.

Tammy has also taught East Coast Swing dance sessions, Yoga, and Latin Dance styles.
